First, physically inspect the lifting sling to make sure it is free of damage. A hoisting strap is not safe to work with if the strap frays too much or the loops are nicked or damaged. Also make sure that the label is always present and legible. This contains important information. The lifting strap will be rejected if the above points are not in order.
Put the lifting strap around the object to be hoisted and make sure that the object has no sharp corners or points. Should this be the case, the use of a protective cover for the lifting strap or protective corners is recommended. After the lifting strap is secured around the object to be hoisted, you can start hoisting. It is wise to hoist slowly. In case something does not stay in place, correct it. The sling should never be twisted or knotted. After hoisting is completed, it is wise to store the sling properly. Out of reach of UV. If the sling has sustained damage during lifting, discard it. Once a year it should be inspected by an expert.
